Our trip to Italy was every bit as beautiful as I’d hoped. The kids had a wonderful time, and truly enjoyed and understood the significance of being in such a special place.
One of highlights for me when looking back at my photos was the abundance of pattern
Mosaics in the Vatican museum
Of course I was wearing pattern too. Unfortunately the setting was spectacular yet the photographer not interested in taking photos of clothes for a blog. 4 photos with a range of facial expressions from talking to eyes closed. This was the best. Sometimes knowing I can be the photographer encourages me to sew for others!
adapted from this pattern with a simple casing and drawstring neckline
It needed a painful resize through the sideseams, rematching all those stripes in a fully lined dress. The illustration looked like a slim fit and I removed a lot of fabric and if it was plain, I’d go back for more! In the full length photo I tried to stretch the neck out so I could wear a normal bra, but I think it looks better as a halter neck and a strapless. I’ll also try it with a big belt next time I wear it.
Unfortunately the dress fabric has dropped more than the lining. It’s now in the wash and I’ll see what that does before re-hemming.
I’ve been doing a lot of sewing lately and not much blogging!
